"Saya hanya perlu mencinta dan dengan seketika butalah mata saya."

'Gerhana Mata', Djenar Maesa Ayu

Jentayu is a French biannual literary review which compiles short stories and poetry from countries all over Asia. It's published by Editions Jentayu, a small publishing house based in France and dedicated to the promotion of Asian literature in French translation.

Issue #6's theme is Amours et Sensualités, and it will be out in July 2017. Jérôme Bouchaud commissioned these illustrations to go along with stories selected for publication. This was a supremely fun assignment to work on - each story called for a slightly different approach, and I enjoyed painting these.

"It was the 60s, sayang. Everyone played rock ‘n’ roll. A touch of Pop Yé-yé."
