Ink on paper
What is the point at which the known ends, and the unknown begins?
This drawing combines two sources of inspiration: the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, and the Flammarion engraving, which shows a wanderer gazing beyond the point where the sky and earth meet. It’s a metaphor for the quest for knowledge, in both a scientific and spiritual sense. The engraving first appeared in a book published in 1888; the LHC began operating in 2010, enabling scientists to test and pursue questions about laws and models of physics. Humans have always sought to pursue knowledge and to understand the world we live in.
